Grace Holistic & the Community
Being actively engaged in the local community is important to us. Just as we rely on the generosity and kindness of others, we want to offer the same. Our staff, students and families work together to help others through service.
Micropantry Site
We have a micropantry on site, designed to serve the local community in need of some extra non-perishable food items. We also accept donations for the micropantry, one of a few located in Yorkville.
Support to Non-Profits
We try to support other non-profits as well, including the CASA Kendall County, 3:11 Project and various food banks, etc. Our students learn service through our volunteering and donations.
Animal Foster "Home"
We partner with Fur Angels to host animals in our Pet Therapy program until they are adopted. We have had snakes, bearded dragon, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs and more. Our students help clean and care for the animals while they stay with us.
Annual Goblin Games
We host an annual Halloween trunk or treat event for the community, with games, costume costume, food trucks, face painting and more.
Annual Grace Gala
We host the Grace Gala every fall, our biggest fundraiser of the year. Live music, silent auction, and excellent food in the beautiful location. It is open to all.
Community Bunny Brunch
Our annual Bunny Brunch is fun for the whole family and open to the local community. Egg hunt, animals, the Easter bunny, a great meal and lots of games.
Crossover Yoga Events
We often partner with Sense of Samadhi Yoga in downtown Yorkville, our founder's studio. Our students take yoga daily, and our parents/guardians receive discounted yoga. We often have crossover events with the yoga studio.
SAT Test Center for the Community
We serve as a local SAT Testing Center for the public. Register at collegeboard.org to sign up for upcoming SAT testing dates. Our test center location number is 14492. Open to the public.
Refuge Recovery Meetings
Refuge Recovery is a practice, a process, a set of tools, a treatment, and a path to healing addiction and the suffering caused by addiction. Grace Holistic serves as a local meeting place for this group.
Meeting/Event Space
We are lucky to have our space, and we make it available for other non-profits for a meeting/event space, such as the 3:11 Project.
Advancing Equity in the Community
Grace Holistic Center for Education (GHCFE) advances equity in the community in several key ways:
1. Holistic Education: GHCFE’s focus on holistic education addresses the diverse needs of students, including their emotional, social, and intellectual development. This comprehensive approach ensures that all students receive a well-rounded education that prepares them for success, regardless of their backgrounds.
2. Mindfulness Practices: By integrating mindfulness into the curriculum, GHCFE helps students develop essential life skills such as self-awareness, emotional regulation, and stress management. These skills are crucial for creating a supportive and inclusive school environment, which can positively impact students from various backgrounds.
3. Personalized Learning: GHCFE’s smaller class sizes allow for more individualized attention from teachers. This personalized approach helps cater to the unique learning styles and needs of each student, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed academically.
4. Community Engagement: GHCFE encourages students to engage with their community through service projects and local initiatives. This involvement helps students understand and address community issues, fostering a sense of social responsibility and equity.
5. Parental and Community Involvement: GHCFE promotes strong connections with families and the community, encouraging their active involvement in the educational process. This collaboration ensures that the school’s programs are responsive to the needs and concerns of the community, promoting a more equitable environment.
6. Financial Accessibility: GHCFE offers scholarships and financial aid to ensure that high-quality education is accessible to students from all economic backgrounds. This reduces financial barriers and ensures that more students can benefit from GHCFE’s educational offerings.
7. Cultural Competence: GHCFE incorporates cultural competence into its curriculum, celebrating diversity and teaching students to respect and value different perspectives. This fosters an inclusive school culture where all students feel seen and heard.
8. Social and Emotional Support: GHCFE provides robust social and emotional support services, recognizing that students’ well-being is crucial for their academic and personal success. This support helps create an equitable learning environment where all students can thrive.
Through these initiatives, Grace Holistic Center for Education plays a vital role in advancing equity in the community, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and contribute positively to society.
