Grace Holistic Center for Education “Impact Series”: Exploring the benefits of a whole-child approach to education and its impact on students, families, and the greater community

Grace Holistic Center for Education (GHCFE) (a private, not for profit school serving the greater

Chicago region) is seeing the benefits of their whole child approach to education on students, families, and the greater community since its opening in 2016. Area resident Tairi Grace, a licensed clinical social worker, certified yoga instructor and educator, and mother of five, saw the need for a more holistic approach to supporting a child’s development in order for them to thrive into adulthood.

Founder and now executive director, Tairi Grace, explains “We are a whole-child focused school. Our dynamic education model helps students grow academically, while also becoming more mindful, learning life skills and feeling like part of our family. Our curriculum expands outside the boundaries of traditional classes to support the child’s development as a whole: mind, body, and spirit. Our integrative approach aims to maximize the student’s learning potential while giving them the developmental tools they need as they mature into adulthood.”

Our “impact series” will illustrate each component of our whole child education model including:

  • Physical + Mental health and Wellbeing

  • Mindfulness through Yoga, Meditation, Regulation and Self care

  • Family & Community Engagement, promoting Global Citizenship through Service

  • Academics centered on the Individual Learner

  • Care for our surroundings and environment through Sustainability, Climate Action & Conservation Efforts
